Pure Raucousness

The Capitol Heights are hands down - and back up again - one of the best acts to see right now in Washington, DC. They're a rambunctious, multi-instrumental duo taking cues from coffee-house acoustic, rock, folk, and electronica. Inspired by the likes of Sufjan Stevens, Cake, I See Stars, Ludacris and more, The Capitol Heights simply enjoy every aspect of making and listening to music. The group can be found busking on the streets of the district during the day and playing back to back shows later that same evening. Members of the band have performed individually as solo artists, part of multiple rock outfits, wind ensembles, and even jazz bands. Their music is focused on Kenny's guitar with Josh on mandolin, but there's always room for keys, trumpet, harmonica, bass guitar, and a menagerie of percussion. Aside from their stage escapades, they also record and produce their own music, allowing them to conjure something unique, fun, and personal into existence.

Our History

Every superhero has a backstory and if you're interested, see below for a whirlwind tour of how The Capitol Heights got to where they are today. Kenny and Josh met during college and joined forces in 2008 to form A Compass for Rose (AC4R). AC4R was a hard rock band that played all across the state of Georgia, from open mics to midsize venues at times drawing over a hundred patrons. The band played benefit shows, won 2nd place in a battle of the bands competition, and received regional radio play.
