Yeah, we like making new band names every week, but sometimes we get busy recording songs. Or tired. Or sick. This time all three. Without much adieu at all… this week’s name is: A Random Oracle. I thought this sounded pretty cool, but it’s also got a cybersecurity bent to it as well.
From Wikipedia’s page on the topic:
In cryptography, a random oracle is an oracle (a theoretical black box) that responds to every unique query with a (truly) random response chosen uniformly from its output domain. If a query is repeated it responds the same way every time that query is submitted.
It totally works, and you don’t get bands with “A” in front of their name that often. Except for A Perfect Circle.
Note: Feel free to use any of our band names. We create all of them ourselves, so you don’t need to worry stealing or borrowing names or anything like that. The only thing we ask is that if you use one – let us know cause we’ll mention it!
