What’s on The Capitol Heights’ playlist? November Edition
This month we’re listing to piano based songs.
- Ben Folds Five – Army
Awesome lyrics, especially in the opening stanza. “My dad said son you’re fucking high.” - Keane – Somewhere Only We Know
This one is a nice, up tempo, ballad with beautiful lyrics and a driving piano. - OK GO – I Won’t Let You Down
This is one of OK Go’s latest treats. We like the funkiness, and the awesome video filmed by a drone! Why are they so good? - Jukebox The Ghost – Somebody
Found by looking at related artists to Ben Folds, Jukebox The Ghost seems like an awesome, relatively little known, artist. This is a great example of their awesomeness that features piano and a unique vocal pattern. - The Rocket Summer – Save
Save is one of the many solid songs on The Rocket Summer’s CD, Do You Feel. Listen to it when you get a chance! - The Dresden Dolls – Truce
I remember listening to this song while playing World of Warcraft in college. That really makes it sound like my college experience was terrible. - Mayday Parade – Terrible Things
We recently saw Mayday Parade in concert and they played this song and it was pretty darn good. The piano part is not necessarily difficult but it sounds nice. - Regina Spektor – Machine
Such a unique song! I didn’t know what a “pre-war apartment” was before this song. She truly makes the piano part sound robotic. - Damien Rice – 9 Crimes
When this song came out I LOVED it but was so mad that it was on piano. All of Damien’s previous stuff had been on guitar. So I spent hours figuring out the piano part on my guitar. Totally worth it. It ended up being fairly simple and it made me think he wrote it on guitar and then altered it to play on piano - Muse – United States of Eurasia
The chord progression in this song is so odd and it’s definitely one of Muse’s more ‘Queen-esque’ songs.
